Cubase

The first version of Steinberg’s Cubase was launched way back in 1989, originally for the Atari ST computer system. With version 5 launching in the first quarter of 2009, Cubase is a tremendously popular and successful music production software program used by musicians all over the world.

With versions for both Mac and PC, Cubase offers all the tools necessary to record, edit, arrange and master your music.
Included in the package are a range of virtual instruments and effects and it is worth remembering that the VST (Virtual Studio Technology) format was created by Steinberg in 1999 and has gone on to become pretty much the standard format for Digital Audio Workstation plug-ins. Version 5 includes features such as PitchCorrect for vocal editing, LoopMash for those working with audio loops and Beat Designer for putting together beats, as well as new and upgraded effects.

Cubase is a giant in the world of production software with good reason, so if you are looking for a music production program Cubase should definately be on your shortlist.
